Terms of Use
The short version: be kind. Dead Sea Scrolling has zero tolerance for abusive or objectionable content. Anyone who harasses others or posts objectionable names or content will be removed.
Using the app
Dead Sea Scrolling is free. You can read, search and use the reading plan without an account. An account (Sign in with Apple) is optional and lets you sync your reading and connect with friends. You must be at least 13 to create an account.
Your conduct
When you choose a name or username, add friends, or share anything with others, you agree not to:
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone;
- post anything hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable;
- impersonate another person or Dead Sea Scrolling itself;
- send spam, scams or unwanted promotion;
- try to get around a block, or use the app to collect information about others.
These rules cover names, comments, notes and anything you share with friends. You can block anyone and report them, or report a post or comment, from the app (long-press a name, or the ••• menu on a post). We review reports within 24 hours and remove content and accounts that break these rules.
The content
Bible texts, translations and commentary come from the openly licensed and public-domain sources listed in the app under Me › Sources & credits. Context notes are written with AI (Claude, by Anthropic) from those sources and can contain mistakes; they're study aids, not authority. Manna reflections and Imagine pictures are made on your device by Apple Intelligence.
No warranty
The app is provided as is, without warranties. We may change or stop parts of it. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages to the extent the law allows.
Ending your account
You can delete your account any time in the app (Me › your account › Delete account). We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
